A bakkie rolled multiple times, injuring 21 people in Lanseria on the afternoon of 14 June. ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring explained that the accident happened on the R512, outside the entrance to the Lion Park. “ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the bakkie far off into the veld, some distance away from the road,” he said. “When paramedics assessed the scene, they found that 21 people had been travelling in and on the bakkie when the driver apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.”
Meiring added that a triage area was set up so that emergency personnel could effectively assess and treat the patients. The injured, including the driver, were found to have injuries ranging from moderate to serious. “The patients were treated and stabilised on scene before they were transported to various hospitals for urgent medical attention,” Meiring concluded.
