GALLERy: Educational software gives youngsters wings

NORTH RIDING – Bio-pharmaceutical company gives back to the community as they aid Mother of Peace Home with the installation of new educational software on their computers.

The Mother of Peace Home in North Riding was delighted to hear that global bio-pharmaceutical company AbbVie sponsored educational software for the computers at the home.

Vallery Barbeito, who is from Mother of Peace, explained that AbbVie donated and installed computers a year ago but added that they felt that it was necessary for the young people at the organisation to be able to learn more while they use the computers.

“The company was also proactive and installed security systems to protect the computers against theft.”

She added, “The staff from AbbVie decided to make an occasion of the day on 12 June when they brought along gift packs and arranged a special KFC lunch for the youngsters at Mother of Peace.”

General manager at AbbVie South Africa Christo Kruger said that the day was centred around the young people who reside at Mother of Peace. We have been involved with the organisation for the last couple of years and it felt nice to give them something that will benefit everyone here.”

He added “Prior to the event we arranged for the staff at Mother of Peace to receive special training in order for them to be able to assist the young men and women from the organisation.”

Barbeito thanked AbbVie and their dedicated team of staff who made the day a memorable one for everyone at Mother of Peace Home.
