Referring to the article [My garden is invaded by aliens, Randburg Sun, 16 July] I ask the question why do the municipality or whoever is responsible for cutting the grass and weeds on the curbs and sides of our roads, not dig up the alien plants that are growing in such places.

One such place is opposite the Linden Police Station on the corner of Boundary Road and Short Street.

There is a Lantana bush that just gets cut down each time the grass gets cut and in no time this bush has grown again.

It hinders drivers’ views of oncoming traffic when turning out of Short Street into Boundary Road.

Also the “park” in the same area is full of Bugweed.

This area looks terribly overgrown and untidy and why do the people responsible not work harder but smarter and dig up these alien plants while they are about it.

The above is contrary to all that is stated in the article re: Alien plants.

How about suggesting the fines they mention!!!!!!
