Mixed reaction as Eskom cut bonuses

RANDBURG – It’s a pity employees have to suffer as well but bonuses should have been suspended a while ago.

Many residents in Ward 117 are not concerned about Eskom’s decision to suspend employee’s bonuses this year due to the company’s constraints.

This follows Eskom’s decision of cutting the budget in order to restore its financial stability.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck said it was a pity employees had to suffer.

“Bonuses should have been suspended a while ago,” Truluck said.

He added that councillors don’t receive bonuses, but they still work tirelessly hoping to solve the complaints of the residents in their wards.

Ward 99 Bruce Herbert welcomed Eskom’s decision and insisted that it should have been done a while ago.

“Bonuses for what? Those people should be paid for their performances. They have ruined the institution to the ground,” complained Herbert.

He suggested that the country should opt for a nuclear option in order to restore the power and avoid constant ongoing load shedding.

“Everybody is scared of nuclear power whereas it is safer than the current carbon emission caused by coals,” Herbert insisted.
