GALLERY: Residents unite at Spring Market

KENSINGTON B – Residents meet and get to know each other at the Spring Market.

Residents got an opportunity to interact, meet and socialise with each other at the Spring Market on 3 October at the Kensington B Park.

Residents brought their families and some even their pets, for a fun-filled day with jumping castles, braais, crafts and business stalls.

Some residents sold their products and created awareness about their services.

The organiser Arlene Leggat said the event was to encourage people to know each other in their community.

The chairperson of Kenbrink Resident’s Association (KRA) Sandy Heidstra said it was a good outing and it would encourage residents to know their neighbours.

Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood explained the event was a fantastic initiative and would get residents to work closely.

He said he would encourage residents from other suburbs in his wards to form resident associations.

“An event like this builds and strengthens the community,” Wood said.

Martin Acton, a resident, said there was not enough sense of community anymore and people just stay in their houses and they do not know who their neighbours are.

“We live such separate lives these days. At least today we got an opportunity to nod and smile and speak to someone,” said Acton.
