5 days and van with dog is still missing

FERNDALE – Dog owner lost her other dog to food poisoning while searching for missing dog.

A van that was hijacked in Ferndale outside of Shaggies Dog Parlour with a dog in it on 12 November has still not been found.

This happened when the co-owner of the parlour Gerd Schoeman, put the dog in the van to go drop it off at the owner, when two men approached the vehicle. One of the men got into the van and allegedly drove off while another man allegedly took off on foot.

The owner of the dog, Betty Lidbetters, said that she is still looking for her dog and is more devastated because her other dog died on 16 November due to being poisoned. “I’m still putting up posters and contacting newspapers, it is very upsetting,” said Lidbetters.

Co-owner Annette Schoeman said the case was reported to the Randburg Police Station and they have not found their vehicle yet. “Me and my husband just want to find the dog that is missing, in all our years of business we have never lost a dog,” said Annette. She added that they are doing all they can, even contacting radio stations.

The vehicle is a silver 1993 Nissan bakkie with the registration plate CRT 794 GP.

Lidbetters is urging residents to keep an eye out for her dog Chester who is a Maltese X and is dark grey in colour.

Details: Betty Lidbetters 082 3344251.
