Ward 98 requests help regarding refuse

WINDSOR – Ward 98 Councillor Laurette van Zijl has requested help from the public regarding uncollected refuse.

Ward 98 Councillor Laurette van Zijl has advised residents to assist in helping to collect and dispose of refuse, as Pikitup is still on strike.

She said in spite of various requests that Windsor East receive preferential urgent and necessary treatment and be cleaned as the Inner City had been this week, nothing has happened.

Councillor van Zijl said the situation is becoming unbearable, especially around the shops. Hence, she has initiated a cleaning action for 4 December.

“I hope to get most of the vagrants, hawkers and other souls hanging around to help. I am also asking that complexes send their gardeners – even if it is only part of the day. Least of all, I am asking any resident who is available to also assist,” said Councillor van Zijl.

She has requested skips from Pikitup but they are still being sourced.

“I have not yet had all the commitments from officialdom that I need and I am very uncomfortable starting an action of which some details are missing, but I trust that all will be in place on 4 December,” she continued.

Councillor van Zijl added that Pikitup will deliver refuse bags to different key points areas where residents can pick it up to place overflow refuge in, on 4 December.

“Such bags can be taken to garden sites and be thrown into the skips there. I have been told that the bags will be delivered by tomorrow afternoon but please do not blame me if they aren’t.”

Below are selected sites for Ward 98:

  • Smit Street Spar (opposite the park)
  • Windsor East Spar
  • Windsor West Spar
  • Seeff Building on Beyers Naudé and Princes
  • Both gates at The Willows
  • The booms at Cherry and Club in Randpark
  • The boom at Pitsani in Kelland
