Electric pole poses danger
FERNDALE – Residents reported the problem to City power almost a week ago and nothing has been done.
A live-wired electric pole is on the edge of falling down onto Cork Avenue in Ferndale.
Residents in the area hope City Power will fix the problem as soon as possible, as it was posing danger.
A concerned resident, Tanya Volschenk said they tried to report the problem on 30 November and their plight was very frustrating.
After numerous calls and not getting through to City Power, one of the residents resorted to the entity’s Twitter account to highlight the danger of their plight on 29 November.

“I tried the electronic – eservices method of reporting before and they came back to me some two or three weeks later, I also gave up on that method,” said Volschenk.
She further explained that it was a danger waiting to happen and the pole could fall anytime soon.
Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood said it was a dangerous situation and City Power should have responded quickly. “City Power Randburg Depot is
under-resourced and those employees spend their time running around trying to fix power outages,” said Councillor Wood.
He concluded that problems such as those were often neglected as a result of lack of resources.
City Power spokesperson Yumna Sheikh explained that the entity appreciated the effort made by members of the public to report the falling pole.
“Our area manager has been notified of the matter. A team has been identified to fix the matter. The process is in motion at the moment, “she concluded.
