Residents learn about the function of the Public Protector
VANDIA GROVE – Meeting held on 10 February encourages residents to vote.
Randburg Vandia Grove Domestic Worker’s Forum held a meeting on 10 February with Ward 102 Councillor Mike Wood. Randburg SAPS, Sector 3 manager, Constable Gerry Maluleke attended the meeting, along with Moreen Mabasa and Titus Sebesho from the Department of the Public Protector.
According to Randburg SAPS spokesperson, Constable Stanley Bopape, Councilor Wood encouraged the residents of Vandia Grove to register so that they can vote on 9 and 10 April. Bopape said that people can also SMS ‘32810’ to find out whether they are registered.
Mabasa and Sebesho explained to attendees of the meeting how the office of the Public Protector works.
- It’s a neutral office, they don’t fall under any organisation
- They investigate the issues of the government
- They offer a free service to anyone requesting it
- They investigate national, provincial and local government
- The office is there to fight for the rights of the people.
Constable Maluleke also provided residents with tips on how to prevent crimes in the area.
