Police warn pupils about the dangers of stealing

KENSINGTON B – Randburg police encouraged pupils to report crime incidents.

Randburg Police warned pupils from Savuka Private School to be more careful about stolen goods.

The police conducted an awareness campaign to educate pupils about the difference between petty and serious crimes.

Sergeant Cookie Maphanga from the social crime prevention unit encouraged pupils to be active in the fight against crime and report all criminal incidents they are aware of.

Randburg Police spokesperson, constable Stanley Bopape said school crime awareness was done under the jurisdiction of the Child Justice Act. Police sector managers Const Maqawe Dlodlo and Const Gerry Maluleke also attended the awareness campaign.

“Children’s rights and the commission of crime by children was highlighted in light with the Child Justice Act because it was found that school children were often stealing from each other,” said Bopape.
