Pedestrian knocked down on the highway

A pedestrian was hit by a car on the N1 North just after the Malibongwe Drive off ramp earlier this evening.

According to ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw, the man was apparently trying to cross the highway but did not see oncoming traffic.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found a man believed to be in his late 20s in a critical state. Paramedics treated and transported the man to Helen Joseph Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the light motor vehicle was assessed by other medical services on scene.”

Rossouw added that the cause of the incident remains unknown, and authorities were on scene for further investigation.
