Hijacking on Malibongwe Drive

NORTH RIDING – Police are looking for suspects in connection with a hijacking that happened on Malibongwe Drive.

Honeydew Police are on the lookout for two suspects who hijacked a vehicle on Olievenhout Avenue in North Riding.

Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs from Honeydew Police, said that on 3 August at about 12:45pm, the complainant (24) was driving his company vehicle, a yellow Ford Ranger bakkie on Olievenhout Avenue in North Riding.

While he was stationary at a red traffic light, two unknown suspects approached him from the left passenger door.

“One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the complainant, who was then instructed to turn left on Malibongwe Drive, in the direction Cosmo City,” Jacobs said.

She added that while still on Malibongwe Drive the complainant was instructed to stop next to the road as one of the suspects wanted to drive the bakkie. She further explained that was while the exchange was being made that the complainant then managed to escape, running away from the bakkie leaving the suspects to drive off in it.

“A case of hijacking has been opened at the Honeydew Police Station and the vehicle’s description was circulated,” she said.

She urged anyone with information about the hijacking to contact them.
