Update: There is still enough fuel
JOBURG–CEPPWAWU confirms that the petrol strike is still ongoing till further notice.

The South African Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) confirms that members of the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) , are continuing with their strike in the petroleum sector.
SAPIA executive director, Avhapfani Tshifularo said that refineries and petrol stations have sufficient fuel to meet the demands of motorists. Certain oil companies are executing their confidential plans to deal with the effects of the petrol strike, as quickly and safely as possible.
“We are working closely with law enforcement agencies ensuring safety and security of employees and property when delivering petroleum products to service stations.We have seen improvements regarding deliveries of fuel to service stations,” said Tshifularo.
He added that motorists are advised to stick to their normal refueling patterns to assist the petroleum industry in ensuring the security of supply.
The unions are demanding an increase of 9 percent, while the industry is offering a 6.5 percent increase. In addition, the union also wants a one–year wage deal and rejects the two–year deal proposed by the National Petroleum Employers Association (NPEA).
