rAge, ever inspired by gamers

NORTHRIDING – One of the minds behind rAge shares advice and new additions to expo

As the rAge Expo is right around the corner, Lauren Das Neves shares more about the expo she helped create.

Das Neves used to publish NAG Magazine, and her and Michael James, now senior project manager of rAge, were trying to come up with ways in which to grow the magazine’s readership. A ‘live version’ of the magazine was born and would be known as the rAge Expo.

“It is easy to be innovative in this space, as gaming and technology are constantly changing each year. Everything we do is inspired by the things we, as gamers ourselves, love and enjoy. We also watch what’s trending at international gaming expos and try and bring the new and exciting elements of those to rAge,” Das Neves added.

Now, besides being the managing editor of NAG Magazine, Das Neves manages the marketing, social media and public relations for rAge. Additionally, she is in charge of the event budget and is also part of running the NAG LAN, where individuals bring their own computers or consoles to play computer games together, as well as the eSports elements of the expo, as that is where her passions lie.

“eSports is definitely the big addition to rAge this year. We have two massive eSports tournaments happening live on the show floor, with over R1 million prize money up for grabs. We’ve also added a Cosplay stage this year, as well as Africa’s first eSports Branding Summit,” Das Neves explained.

Her advice to all new rAge-goers is to bring money as there is always great stuff to buy; wear comfortable shoes and prepare yourself for a day of ‘awesomeness’.
