Letasja van der Merwe is calling on members of the public to participate in a Zumbathon fundraiser, Zumba for Autism, to help Amazing K School for Autistic children in Northwold raise funds.
The 90-minute event will be held at Viva Gym at Hillfox Centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm on 12 November. Participants are required to pay an entrance fee of R100 at the door. The organisers also welcome extra donations as all the proceeds will go towards the school.
The school’s owner Ilse Kilian-Ross said they will also use the event to create awareness about autism in the community. “We have many non-verbal children and we want to buy augmentative communication devices for them,” Kilian-Ross said.
She said that a large turnout would be appreciated as they were in the process of trying to get another property outside of Northwold and need to raise a substantial amount.
