Give a little thought to the Paige Project this Chrismas
BROMHOF – Help the Paige Project this Christmas to bring mobility to children who are living with cerebral palsy.
Life is often full of challenges but those challenges are made easier to deal with when kind-hearted people stand by us.
Paige Barson was born in 2006 with cerebral palsy. Further complications have left her with moderate to severe brain damage and blindness. Her uncle David Barson, realised that her parents needed assistance and that’s when he stepped in to help raise funds to purchase a specialist wheelchair that would assist Paige in being able to sit.
“I began with a raffle and I was astounded when we raised just around R28 000,” he said. That’s when the Paige Project was born and since then it has extended itself not just to help Paige but also other children who suffer from the same type of illness. The project also educates caregivers and equips them with the necessary tools to effectively look after children with cerebral palsy.
David explained that the Paige Project is always looking for extra support from the public and this Christmas they are aiming to refurbish 60 wheelchairs that will assist children from the Thembalihle Primary School.
They received a quotation from a supplier and have been quoted R50 576.76 for all the different parts that they will need to upgrade the wheelchairs.
