Family mourns the loss of their hero
JOBURG – Hannes van der Walt, who was a Caxton employee for about 30 years, dies in his sleep.
Long standing employee of Caxton, Hannes van der Walt has died in his sleep.
Van der Walt worked for RNA Distribution, a division of Caxton and CTP Publishers for 12 years while in Bloemfontein and for the next 18 years he worked for the same companies in Johannesburg.
He died in his sleep due to natural causes on 7 July after he celebrated his wife’s birthday the previous day surrounded by his three children, grandchildren and extended family.
His nephew, Heinrich de Jager, said his uncle was always friendly and full of ideas. “He always made you laugh, and he was a loving man, always there for everyone,” said De Jager.
To many who knew him, Van Der Walt was said to be a constant helping hand who did not like to see others struggle.
His funeral will be held at the Full Gospel Church in Krugersdorp West on 14 July at 10am.
