#JoburgStorm: Emergency services respond to motorist swept off the road

NORTH RIDING – Heavy weather conditions force a motorist off the road.

A satellite installation service vehicle was pushed off the road along Aureole Avenue in North Riding during the heavy storms on 9 October.

The driver was driving across a stormwater drain when he lost control of his vehicle.

According to an eyewitness, the vehicle ended up being carried across the water, eventually becoming stuck in mud along an open veld.

The motorist stood on top of his vehicle’s roof in order to get help. Emer-G-Med was called to the scene by another motorist, who then called for assistance.

An excavator managed to pull the vehicle out of the mud. The motorist was unharmed during the incident.

The South African Weather Service issued a warning about heavy rains affecting different parts of the country.

There have been widespread incidents about the damage caused by the heavy weather across the country. Motorists are warned to drive cautiously and take preventative measures during heavy weather conditions.
