A safer festive season message from Linden police

LINDEN – The Linden Police Station would like to wish the community a happy, safe, peaceful and prosperous festive season.

Station Commander of the Linden Police Station Colonel Zaieed Musthan writes,

This office would like to take this opportunity to wish the community within the Linden precinct a happy, safe, peaceful and prosperous festive season.

It is a known fact that the festive season presents its own challenges as far as crime is concerned and we would like to encourage all members of the community to maintain vigilance and not to drop their guard.

During 2018, we have noticed a positive impact in property-related crimes, which include residential burglary, theft out of motor vehicles and theft of motor vehicles. We have also had a positive increase in policing initiated crimes, including possession of drugs and drunken driving.

Relating to lowlights, we have experienced an increase in contact crimes, including robbery with aggravating circumstances, in particular, a substantial spike in hijackings.

The station is busy with initiatives to stabilise and reduce these offences. It must be pointed out that victims of contact crimes, in particular, are highly traumatised by such offences because it is a very personal attack and because force is applied directly to the victim. For this purpose, this station management would like to reassure the community that these types of incidents will be thoroughly investigated with the view of bringing the perpetrators to justice.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all security companies, the community, the Community Police Forum (CPF) and the members of SAPS Linden for their continued commitment and dedication and there unwavering support towards this police station in the achievement of the station’s objectives, without these dedicated partners this station would not be able to face the challenges thrown at us.

We as SAPS Linden management would like to encourage all members of the community to join hands with SAPS Linden through the CPF in the fight against crime by joining the CPF structures within your particular sector, this would undoubtedly lend greatly towards the further eradication of crime within our precinct and improve community/police relations.

Our hopes for 2019 is to strengthen the community police relationship within our precinct and in doing so we believe that we will be able to create a safer and more secure environment for all members within our community.

The management at SAPS Linden wishes you peace, joy and prosperity throughout the coming year. Thank you for your continuous support and partnership. We look forward to working with you in the years to come.
