Knights Preparatory School collected food for the Randburg SPCA as a Valentine’s gift for the animal organisation.
The learners at the school either brought dog or cat food as donations instead of paying to wear civvies at school.
Michelle McMenamin, principal of Knights Preparatory said, “This is an initiative close to our hearts as we are trying to cultivate a heart of giving in our children. The learners have a close connection with animals and it is important that we teach them how to develop empathy and compassion from a young age.”
Grade 7 learners who are part of the outreach team at the school delivered the food to the Randburg SPCA. They delivered a full-trailer-load of food and raised R3 200 for the organisation.

The learners who had the privilege of delivering the food said they felt so blessed to be able to share the experience and that they were thrilled to know that the food was going to keep the animals’ stomachs full for a while.
