Concerns raised by pensioners
BLAIRGOWRIE – Ward councillors held a special morning for pensioners to raise their concerns with them.
BLAIRGOWRIE – Ward 102 councillor David Potter and Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck held a special morning for pensioners to raise their concerns with them and enjoy a cup of tea at the same time on 7 March.
The event was held at Patisserie de Paris in Blairgowrie with a number of pensioners bringing their queries to the councillors.
Potter added that many of the queries were around the valuation roll and pensioner rebates.
He said, “It is important to note that the City seems to have progressed well with the conclusion of the objection to the 2018 General Valuation Roll. The next step in the process is for the appeals to be processed, this is usually a lengthy process.”
Potter suggested that residents whose objections have been finalised need to pay to the City any arrears either upfront or by signing an acknowledgement of debt at the Randburg Walk-in Centre.
“Other queries received at the pensioner morning were around excessive water billing on actual readings. Residents are urged to regularly check their water meter for excess use which could be as a result of a small burst inside a property.
“Overall the morning was a success with pensioners feeling heard. Similar future engagements will be planned in due course.”
