Taal-Net Schools host large-scale athletics meet at Randburg Sports Complex

PRAEGVILLE – Nine schools were divided into groups to compete at an inter-school athletics meeting.


Young athletes of Taal-Net Schools in Gauteng and Mpumalanga kept Randburg Sports Complex abuzz when they convened for an inter-school athletics meeting.

The Taal-Net schools were from Kempton Park, Beula Park, Midrand, Turffontein, Randburg, Pretoria, New Harvard College, Roodepoort and Hazyview. All the participants were determined to make a name for their respective schools and were full of energy to outcompete each other.

Events included 100m, 200m, 400m and relay running, long jump, high jump, triple jump, discus and javelin.

All the athletes were split into five groups to foster the spirit of teamwork. Group A was comprised of the Pretoria and Midrand schools, group B was Beula Park, Hazyview and New Harvard, group C was Kempton Park, group D was Randburg, and group E was Roodepoort and Turffontein.

After a morning and afternoon of excellent athletics, the results were as follows:

Group C 712 points

Group D 446 points

Group A 340 points

Group B 322 points

Group E 260 points.

Taal-Net School Kempton Park was the overall winner.

The organisers thanked the parents who made time to come and support their children.
