HONEYDEW –The development is set to increase the electricity supply at the substation, assisting in current and future developments.

The City of Johannesburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Nico De Jager and outgoing Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba where in Honeydew on 19 November to turn the sod at Lutz substation, Honeydew.

The sod-turning event was to launch the Lutz substation project which sets out to add additional capacity to all the residential and business developments around the area.

The electricity supply was originally planned to feed agricultural holdings, which were not meeting the current electricity demands. The mayor said he was pleased to announce that once the development is complete it will ensure enough capacity for current and future developments around Honeydew.

He said they are electrifying more and more parts of Joburg and particularly informal settlements despite having a small budget. In his speech during the event,  he hoped the new administration will continue delivering basic services to residents after his tenure.
