Delicious homemade ice-cream made with love

JOBURG – Make a gingerbread ice-cream to envy all ice-creams.


Keeps things cool this summer with this gingerbread ice-cream.

This recipe will make about two litres of ice-cream and along with the ingredients, all you will need is a baking tray, electric mixer, a spatula and a two-litre container. You will also need to preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius.

Here’s how you make the dessert:

Ingredients

Gingerbread

  •  150g butter
  •  125g sugar
  •  112g golden syrup
  •  360g flour
  •  5ml bicarb
  • 12ml ground ginger
  • 5ml ground cinnamon

Ice-cream

  • 1.5L cream
  • 750g condensed milk
  • 10ml ground ginger
  • 5ml mixed spice

Method

Gingerbread

Sift all dry ingredients together.

Melt butter, syrup and sugar until dissolved.

Add to flour mix until it forms a smooth dough.

Wrap in plastic and place in a fridge for 30 minutes.

Roll dough to 5mm thick and cut desired shapes.

Place on a baking tray and bake at 180 for 12 to 15 minutes until the edges of the biscuits start changing colour

Ice-cream

Whisk cream until stiff

Fold in condensed milk and spices

Fold in broken pieces of gingerbread

Freeze in a sealed container for at least 4 hours
