Northriding and Olivedale still have no power

NORTHRIDING – Residents have complained on Twitter that they have not had power for over 24 hours.

Joburg North residents experienced a power outage in the afternoon into the evening yesterday (10 February) after a chamber was vandalised at the Randburg and Bond substations. Most of the power has been restored but North Riding and Olividale residents haven’t been so lucky.

In the statement that was provided during the outage, City Power said they were working with Eskom to restore power. The outage affected Olivedale, Kensington B, parts of Bryanston, Ferndale, Bordeaux, Boskruin,  Randpark Ridge, Strijdom Park, Bromhof, Northwold, Jukskei Park, North Riding, Sharonlea and surrounding areas.

City Power sent out a team this morning to complete the repair work, however, the restoration time is still unclear.

North Riding was not the only area whose power had not come back on after the overhead fault – Olivedale and parts of Ferndale were plunged into darkness for longer than 24 hours. Residents responded to City Power’s information on Twitter with angst:

Some residents also complained about the area still being scheduled for load-shedding despite not having had power for hours:
