Exercising outside of one’s home will not have time constraints during lockdown Level 3 but gym companies and aerobic and yoga studios may not open for some time. Hence the need to find a way to maintain muscle strength at home.
In a free online video posted by the Hunters, they do form drills and discuss how to make running in one’s garden safer.
They start with fast feet to high knees. This involves running on the spot with small steps, and then, after 10 seconds, lifting one’s knees much higher while running on the spot.
“The key to this exercise is to make sure that the speed at which your feet are moving in your fast-feet drill, you are going to maintain that speed through the high-knee drill,” Clinton said.
They do a number of reps before doing shuttles, which is sprinting or skipping back and forth between set distances. They then do straight-leg shuffles. This also involves running on the spot but one must keep their legs straight and knees unbent.
The couple does more shuttles in the video between discussing how best to run in one’s garden.
They then do the straight, leg-ankle hop. This is hopping on the spot on one straight leg but only up to ankle height.”Just push from your toe, don’t jump, don’t straighten your [other] leg at all,” Clinton explained.
“I am using only my calf to push up and my foot muscles as well. This is going to make your feet much more strong as well.” They continue with more exercises for over half an hour in the video.
The Hunters post strength and fitness exercises three times per week and running conditioning three times per week.
Only a few of the videos are posted online free to the public, most videos must be paid for.
