With the deep desire to help those less fortunate in our community, Northgate Shopping Centre started a blanket drive that, together with Caxton Local Media, saw 69 blankets being delivered to One Small Act of Kindness.

Marketing manager of the shopping centre, Annah Moremela said with the current global Covid-19 pandemic emergency calls for business and communities to initiate campaigns that will offer relief and support to flatten the pandemic curve. She knows this initiative, under Mandela Day, will now help at least 69 individuals keep warm during the current winter season.

“Understandably so, households are hard hit economically, with many people losing their jobs and some even taking salary cuts because of the pandemic wave,” said Moremela, adding she salutes both Metro Lifestyle and Caxton Local Media for the partnership along with all their donors for their support and patronage shown during these uncertain times.

Kelly-Ann van der Meer, founder of One Small Act of Kindness, was blown away by the unexpected donation which she was extremely grateful for. The charity organisation is one that has become synonymous in the community when it comes to helping those in need. These blankets will go a long way in making many families and individuals in need feel all the more warmer during this winter period.
