Man sentenced to six years after December robbery

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said that the man robbed his female victim by assaulting her using physical force and no weapons but his bare hands.

A Honeydew man has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment for a crime committed in December 2019.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said that the man robbed his female victim by assaulting her using physical force and no weapons but his bare hands.

The man made away with her handbag, which contained a variety of her possessions.

Police were soon able to track the man down, arrested him and found the stolen items in his possession. He was held in police custody until his trial, which took place on 8 September this year.

“He was found guilty of common robbery and sentenced to six years’ imprisonment. As the Honeydew Police Station, we would like to thank all members involved in the case from arrest to prosecution. Tireless efforts in the arrest and investigation has seen that justice has been served and another criminal has been taken off our streets,” said Muthan.
