Randburg Civic Centre’s work in progress

RANDBURG – Some progress is starting to take place in the maintenance of the Randburg Civic Centre.

After a recent oversight visit, Ward 102 councillor David Potter was pleased to see some of the progress starting to take place in the maintenance of the Randburg Civic Centre.

He said that the Johannesburg Property Company was on-site performing various maintenance tasks including the painting of the inside and fixing electrical concerns.

“The colours are fresh and the centre feels welcoming,” said Potter.
Potter’s aim in visiting the centre was to see which City services were being rendered to the public as well as the state of the building.

“I’d like to think that the Randburg Civic Centre is the busiest in the City and I am pleased that the JPC is giving it some attention. Thank you to the officials assisting the public,” continued Potter.
He noted that there is still a lot of work to be done, and issues are and will continue to be raised by his office to the City. He has requested that the JPC attend to other basic maintenance items such as the pooling water, damaged light poles, the notice board, the untidy entrance, and other pressing issues.

He also noted that the queue management system was not working effectively, and said that it should be to help manage queues efficiently.
He said, “Overall the service has improved at the Randburg walk-in centre under the leadership of the acting manager Thomas. The back office is on hand, is great.

“Management needs to also deal with the [unfavourable characters] that are both outside the property, in the parking lot and around the buildings soliciting transactions for a fee. The matter has already been brought to the attention of the City, but seems to still be ongoing.”

Potter noted that the Randburg Public Library remains closed. The health clinic is open, with closing times at 6pm during the week and 1pm on a Saturday.

Revenue teams are working, dealing with queries such as prepaid meter applications, change of ownership, estimated billing, etc.
