The Swiss Hotel School hosts a fun day for underprivileged children

FERNDALE – Hospitality and culinary students treat underprivileged children.

The Swiss Hotel School hosted the children of the St Laurence’s Children’s Haven for a fun day.

Each year, the hotel school offers the children some time away from the haven by entertaining them with lots of fun and games.

Second-year hospitality and culinary students treated the youngsters to candy floss, ice-cream, cupcake decorating, a jumping castle, soccer and an art station.

Some lovely pieces of art were made on canvasses, kindly donated from the Art Canvas Factory in Lanseria. These art pieces will be auctioned on 10 June at the Art Auction event which the Swiss Hotel School will also host.

The haven was founded under the auspices of the Roodepoort Child and Family Welfare Society. The mission of the haven is to provide abused, neglected and abandoned children with love and care in a secure and warm environment.

Not only did the future hoteliers and chefs provide the children with an unforgettable day filled with fun, but with the help of The Swiss Hotel School, community members managed to raise much-needed funding for the haven.

“We wish to thank all our sponsors who opened their hearts and donated generously,” said co-organiser Heike Coetzee.

Anyone who would like to make a donation toward the St Laurence’s Children’s Haven can visit their website at www.childrenshaven.co.za/ for more information.
