Protesters burn tires in Cosmo City and Zandspruit

Motorists are urged to avoid Cosmo City and Zandspruit after it was confirmed protesters have started burning tyres on major roads there tonight (July 12).

Honeydew Community Policing Forum chairperson, Jon Rosenberg said he had been notified that #ShutdownSA protesters have started burning tyres on the corner of Beyers Naudé Drive and Peter Road, in Zandspruit, and on the corner of Malibongwe and South Africa drives, in Cosmo City.

All this at the same time Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the country to again urge protesters to remain peaceful, and stress that violence would be met by law enforcement.
