A man was shot dead and his car stolen during an incident in Darrenwood yesterday, January 20.
Linden Police spokesperson, Sergeant Takalani Sibiya explained that the man had stopped his car at a boom gate when he was approached by three unknown men.
“[A] security guard heard shots fired and found the deceased lying in front of the security office,” she said.
“Suspects took the deceased’s vehicle, a black Ford Fiesta. No suspects [have been arrested yet]. An investigation is underway.”
Sibiya warned community members to be vigilant when approaching their homes and boom gates at night.
“It is easy for the suspects to rob or hijack you while waiting for the gate to open… These suspects are very dangerous and armed. It anyone suspects that something fishy is about to happen we advise the community [to] not approach these suspects as they are dangerous.”
