Young football stars shine in Cape Town

Players from a local football club show off their football skills at the Multichoice Diski Challenge.

The Randburg Association Football Club sees off three of their U19 players who were set to compete for trials in Cape Town at the Cape Town City Football for the Multichoice Diski Challenge this month.

The Multichoice Diski Challenge happens annually and aims to develop the youth through programmes which include a football tournament which allows players to better their skills by playing regularly in a competitive league.

Owethu Khumalo joyfully shared, “I’m very privileged and excited to be a part of these trials. The training sessions are good as well as the intensity.”
He added that Cape Town City had been good to them thus far and it was truly just a great experience overall.

Ime Okon added, “I felt excited to challenge myself against the best players in Cape Town and I hope I make it into the team.”
In addition, he said it had been challenging to get used to the different players but the training had been ‘top tier’.
