Family in Cosmo still seek clarity about their daughter’s death

Manzi's family suffers as their family home has turned into a crime scene after the death of their daughter in Cosmo City.

The family of Ntebeng Manzi (33) who was murdered in her home in Cosmo City is still seeking answers and justice a month after her death.

The family was left traumatised after Manzi was stabbed to death in her throat on July 19.

On Women’s Day, the family joined the community in a march against the killing of women and children in the country.

The family spokesperson, Manzi’s aunt, who declined to be named, said the family was trying to make sense of what happened.

“Three weeks that seem to be both a nightmare and a horror film. The brutality of Ntebeng’s murder case is difficult for the family to comprehend, and it is also painful considering that we don’t know who the suspect is and we are still trying to determine how things came to be in this situation,” she said.

She added that a relative was also murdered in another province working from home in 2014.

“We are really [traumatised] as a family and deeply hurt because it is the second gender-based violence murder case in the family as eight years ago, another woman in the family, the same age as Ntebeng, was also murdered trying to work from home.”

She said the family had spent quite a bit of time at the murder scene helping the police with their investigation.

“It is very difficult to have to watch all the forensic type of work happen from a distance as if it’s not our home, and it’s hard to see her [Manzi] children try to make sense of what has happened to their mom. It’s even harder to even say the words that she was murdered and come to terms that it happened that suddenly on a day that was just supposed to be a normal day working from home.”

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the murder case of Manzi was still under investigation.
“Currently, we cannot give more information on the progress of the case, however, there is progress and more information about the murder case.”
