Various popular South African chefs helped raise funds for a heartfelt initiative through their cooking skills

Some of South Africa’s popular chefs spent their Spring Day raising funds for a children-oriented NPO.

On the evening of September 1, a team of 140 good-hearted people gathered at Emperors Palace and exhibited their cooking skills.

This was in support of The Reach for a Dream Foundation’s Cooking for Dreams fundraising initiative where some of Randburg’s very own cooks spent their Spring Day helping out.

Yolanda van der Stoep said other well-known chefs such as David Higgs, The Lazy Makoti, and musician and My Kitchen Rules SA judge J’Something were instructing nearly 800 participants who had joined online and were cooking from the comfort of their homes, on how to prepare their starters and main courses.

She added that Tatum Alias from Randburg and Nancy Caughey from Randpark Ridge donned their aprons to support the initiative in which more than R600 000 was raised to help make dreams come true.

“The duo joined nearly 150 other enthusiastic ‘chefs’ in preparing a beetroot carpaccio with whipped feta and pear starter and creamy linguine with green beans and poached eggs main course to help raise funds for this worthy cause,” she said.
