A burst water pipe that left residents without water for a week in August, has finally been repaired in October.
However, as of October 12, the pavement that has been dug up since the burst still needs to be reinstated. The water pipelines on a very busy stretch of Bram Fischer Drive, on the border of Ferndale and Blairgowrie. The hole is about 2m wide, and pedestrians must step out into the street to go around it.

“I just got feedback from our call centre regarding this. The report states that the asbestos cement pipe has been replaced and the call was closed and resolved as per the technician’s report,” said Joburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala. She has not been able to say yet when the pavement will be reinstated.

Randburg Sun first wrote about the burst when Ward 99 councillor Nicole van Dyk drew attention to it along with a host of bursts on Boundary Road nearby, which also have been fixed since.
