Blairgowrie Primary’s Valentine’s Day picnic celebrates love and friendship

Blairgowrie Primary School recently hosted a heartwarming Valentine’s Day picnic for its Grade 7 students, providing a beautiful opportunity for learners to connect, express appreciation, and create lasting memories.

The picnic, held on the school grounds, served as a delightful occasion for students to bond with their peers, exchanging heartfelt gestures and celebrating the spirit of Valentine’s Day.

Learners spread across the school field dressed in pink, red, and white carrying picnic baskets filled with heart-shaped cookies and cupcakes. The marketing and communications lead, Rezaana Du Toit said, “They enjoyed delicious treats and captured silly selfies at the teachers’ hand-crafted photo booth. The upbeat music added to the joyous atmosphere, making it a truly memorable day for everyone involved. This event showcased the creativity, generosity, and spirit of our school community, reminding us that love and friendship know no bounds.”

The success of the picnic is owed to the hard work and effort put in by staff members. Grade 7 leader, Marina Dürr explained that seeing the joy amongst the learners during the picnic filled her heart with warmth. “Events like these, not only foster a sense of community but also remind us of the importance of celebrating love and friendship in all its forms.”

Du Toit reflected on the significance of the event and said, “The picnic served as a beautiful opportunity for our learners to connect with their peers, express their appreciation for one another, and create lasting memories filled with warmth and joy. The spirit of friendship and camaraderie truly blossomed throughout the afternoon, fostering a sense of community and belonging among our entire Grade 7 cohort.”

She explained that the event demonstrated the school’s commitment to creating a positive environment. “It created a space where learners can celebrate their individuality while building meaningful connections with their classmates. We believe that nurturing kindness, empathy, and love is essential for their well-being and overall development.”
