Teacher Khumo Mabaso said, “As Oceans Private School, we are very grateful and it means a lot to the learners as well as the institution. The event has made our learners gain very important knowledge towards their career choices and they feel well-informed after this event. This event also helped the institution as it didn’t have the capacity and resources to organise such a resourceful and magnificent event.
“The organisers did a great job in assisting the institution to provide such a crucial and informative education to our learners. Events like these provide meaning and reasons for learners to come to school and learn.”

She added that in today’s environment, the teachers were extremely busy, focusing on academic work and they needed other stakeholders to educate learners about careers.

“As the saying goes, it takes a whole village to raise a child, so we need support from all corners of the society for learners and Oceans Private School to be successful.”

The UJ speakers shared their journey on how they got into the institution and how important education was. Another speaker who caught the attention of the learners was Ayabulela Magadana. He was imprisoned for stabbing his friend who became paralysed. He wrote his matric exams in prison and passed, earning a distinction.
He is enrolled at UJ and advised the learners to focus on school and stay away from trouble and bad friends.
