Wasps travelled to Randburg searching for their first victory of the season but were sent home after an 11–37 defeat.
Diggers were leading 15–8 going into half-time and the second half was even more disappointing for the visitors as they only managed to add three points to the scoreboard. Diggers put on a stellar performance, adding another 22 points to romp home to the victory.

Diggers coach Kane Mavrodaris said he was extremely happy with the five points for the win. He added their basic strategy was not to take too many risks in their 22 but still have the game awareness to capitalise on opportunities with the ball in hand.

“Wasps showed plenty of fight and it wasn’t easy to get the job done. One of the main objectives as a group is to make Diggers a tough place for travelling teams to get a result.”

He added that the physical nature of this league meant that you have to front up every week and there was no room for complacency.

“As a group, we are looking to win the SGC and fight for promotion to the Pirates Grand Challenge. There is belief in this group and we believe it is attainable.”
