Randburg Taxi Rank hosts community outreach event

In a collaborative outreach effort, JMPD and partners offered Randburg community members valuable services and information, aiming to enhance accessibility and support local needs.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), in collaboration with the Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA), Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), Ikageng, the City of Johannesburg, and the Health Department, recently held a community outreach programme at the Randburg Taxi Rank. This initiative aimed to make essential services more accessible to residents, especially those who may have limited means of reaching government offices.

The event offered a number of services under one roof, allowing attendees to address various administrative needs without having to travel between multiple locations. Services included the ability to check for outstanding amounts with the RTIA, renew vehicle discs, and receive advice on road-related and health issues. This accessibility made it easier for community members to stay informed and compliant with essential requirements.

Each department shared pamphlets filled with useful contact information and details about their services, ensuring that attendees had resources to reference beyond the event. The programme was particularly beneficial for taxi drivers, who received up-to-date information on road safety and compliance. These efforts aim to promote safer roads and better-informed operators who play a vital role in Johannesburg’s public transport network.

This outreach event intends to demonstrate the city’s commitment to community-centered service delivery, especially in areas where access to information can be challenging. The JMPD and its partners plan to continue similar programmes in the future, working towards strengthening community ties and ensuring that residents can obtain the assistance they need conveniently. This initiative reflects the city’s dedication to bridging gaps and building supportive, informed communities across Johannesburg.
