Saints achieve 100% pass rate again

St Stithians Boys' College celebrates outstanding 2024 matric results, achieving a 100% pass rate with 97.2% of students qualifying for Bachelor’s studies.

St Stithians Boys’ College has once again achieved outstanding results in the 2024 Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matriculation exams, with a 100% pass rate among its 144 candidates. Impressively, 97.2% of students qualified for Bachelor’s Degree studies, and 75.7% achieved at least one distinction.\

The class earned a total of 355 distinctions, averaging 2.47 distinctions per candidate. Among the top achievers, Gary Chapman and Richard Leschner were placed on the IEB’s Outstanding Achievement list, ranking in the top 5% nationally in six or more subjects and scoring level 7 in life orientation.

Gary Chapman led the results with a remarkable 93.86% average and nine distinctions, including subjects like further studies mathematics, physical sciences, and music. Richard Leschner followed closely with a 93.14% average, also earning nine distinctions. Emile Odendaal secured an average of 90.57%, completing the trio of Academic Honours Summa Cum Laude recipients.

The school also celebrated students who ranked in the top 1% of IEB candidates in specific subjects. Notable mentions include Fletcher Brown, English Home Language, Siphesihle Ndlwana, isiZulu and dramatic arts, and Darien Naidoo, who excelled in dramatic arts, English, history, and life orientation.

An impressive 43 students achieved four or more distinctions, with 18 subject marks placing in the top 1% nationally. Beyond academics, the school attributes this success to its holistic approach to education, which balances academics, sports, culture, and community engagement.

St Stithians also acknowledged the foundational role played by the Kamoka Bush School and various preparatory and primary schools in shaping their matriculants.

The college congratulated all matriculants on their efforts and encouraged them to remain connected to the St Stithians community as they embark on their next journeys.
