Bordeaux based IIE-Vega School donates R10 000 worth of items to charitable causes

IIE-Vega School in Bordeaux recently donated stationery and arts and crafts materials to One Small Act of Kindness, non-perishable food items to Bordeaux Primary, and chocolates to Garden Village Retirement Centre.

Independent Institute of Education (IIE)-Vega School in Bordeaux donated items worth R10 000 to local causes as part of its annual year end corporate social investment initiative.

The school donated non-perishable food items to Bordeaux Primary School’s feeding scheme, chocolate treats to residents of Garden Village Retirement Centre, and stationery and arts and crafts materials to One Small Act of Kindness, a local charity that supports 97 preschoolers.

The campus has an ongoing relationship with Bordeaux Primary School through its monthly contribution to the school’s feeding scheme, and the campus has supported Garden Village Retirement Centre and One Small Act of Kindness in the past.

Francois Barnardo, campus head, explained that Bordeaux is an amazing community, and it’s a privilege for them to support various causes, which include ones that are encouraging children to grow in their creativity.

Expressing her gratitude, Kelly-Ann van der Meer, founder of One Small Act of Kindness, said that the stationery donation has made a huge difference.

“Many of our parents struggle financially, so being able to provide the necessary supplies for our children is incredibly meaningful. We truly appreciate IIE-Vega School Bordeaux for getting involved and making a difference.”

Louise Wiseman, managing director of Vega, explained that they believe that supporting the communities in which they live in is their responsibility, and it is interwoven into the curriculum and culture.

“This year-end initiative, launched three years ago, encourages our campuses to engage with a charity or NGO of their choice which brings this belief to life.”
