Local home receives R10 000 cheque from Randburg Harriers

Randburg Harriers gave back to the community by donating money to Ann Harding Cheshire Home.

Randburg Harriers handed over a R10 000 cheque to Ann Harding Cheshire Home as a part of a giving back to the community initiative on January 16.

Randburg Harriers public relations officer and media liaison Buwi Moeketsi explained that one of the reasons they hold races annually is to be able to give back to the community that constantly supports them.

“It is very important for us to give back as we would not exist if it wasn’t for the support and kindness of the community, which isn’t limited to just runners. We give back to as a token of our gratitude.”

The running club has a long history of supporting Ann Harding Cheshire Home. Moeketsi added that they admire the excellent work they do with empowering and providing care for people with disabilities. “It just made sense for us to assist them wherever we could. We trust that the caregivers will use it in the best way possible.”

The donation will help the Home in fulfilling some of their needs. Fundraising manager for Cheshire Homes Jackie Kyle said that donations like these are vital to keep the home operating, and will assist them with the ongoing expenses related to the residents.

“We are very grateful for the wonderful donation, and also for the fact that the Randburg Harriers have been supporting the Ann Harding Cheshire Home for so many years. They have so much heart and we are proud to be one of their charity beneficiaries.”
