3 arrested after business robbery in Weltevredenpark
Law enforcement and security teams responded swiftly to a robbery at The Valley Centre, arresting three suspects and recovering two firearms, one of which was fake.
Three suspects were arrested following a business robbery at The Valley Centre in Weltevredenpark.
At around 22:45, the Honeydew Emergency Group received a distress call requesting backup as the suspects were still on the premises. A swift and co-ordinated response from multiple security companies, and the South African Police Service (SAPS), ensured the area was immediately secured, leaving the criminals with no escape.

One suspect was quickly apprehended, while two others attempted to evade capture. Security teams and police officers moved in, successfully tracking and arresting the remaining suspects.

During the operation, two firearms were recovered, with one being functional and the other being a fake gun used to intimidate victims.
Tragically, one of the shop owners was shot during the robbery. Emergency medical services, including Help24EMS and Netcare911, responded promptly, transporting the victim to the hospital in critical condition.
The swift response and teamwork of all security companies and SAPS played a crucial role in containing the situation and ensuring public safety. The incident underscores the effectiveness of collaboration between private security and law enforcement in tackling crime.
