Minor setback could not stop Blairgowrie racer

Blairgowrie based racer Megan Acher hopes to keep improving and break out of her current Class E and join the ranks in Class D.

Blairgowrie-based racer Megan Acher conquered the Fomula Libre Class E event at Red Star Raceway despite facing some concerning setbacks in the practice rounds.

After breaking her intake manifold the weekend before the race, challenges continued to haunt Acher. In the first heat on race day, it was cold and wet and on the second lap, she ran wide, went onto the grass and with no traction, she went into the tyres.

Her team was able to repair the nose temporally using duct tape and she was able to return to the track for the second and third practice rounds. She managed to deliver, getting valuable seat time and improving her lap times each session.

In the first race, she had a poor start, however, she maintained a good pace knocking off valuable seconds on each lap.
Race two was spectacular, with an awesome start only to miss second gear and fall back a little. Her times improved and at the end of race day, a tired Acher had taken first position in her class.

She said the races were high adrenaline, fast-paced, and full of twists and turns. “I’m so proud of myself for cutting my times down after my practice turned into a crash, and for keeping my car on the black. With me bringing my times down every race is a high achievement and my aim is to break out of my current Class E and join the ranks in Class D.”
“In all honesty, I didn’t expect the times I got but I pushed myself and trusted my car, even when I landed going off the track twice.”
