The Hoërskool Randburg learner explained that he is planning on doing his first full national calendar in the Rotax Max South Africa series, and also trying to get some more seat time on the main circuit, as well as possibly racing overseas in 2025.

He will be competing at the senior max level, a logical next step from junior max. It is an open class, with drivers competing from the year they turn 14, until they are too old to kart. “I hope to do the best I can, and hopefully secure a top 3 finish in the national championship. I think it’s looking like a promising year ahead. We have been testing and practicing since late last year and I’m feeling confident, as it’s been looking good so far.”

Schüssler admitted that the competition will not be easy, but with the training he is doing, he is ready for the challenge. “I feel as though the competition will be tough this year, but I’m ready for it. It’s going to be a tough but good racing year. I gym regularly and train regularly to keep myself fit when I’m not driving, but on race weekends, I’m normally talking to everyone, or I have headphones on, so as to not worry about the coming races too much.”

To improve from last year, he had to work on his race craft a bit. He also had to feel the kart better, to try and find those last few tenths.

The dedicated racer added that he would like to compete in as many races as he can, whether it’s in karting or on the main circuit, or even overseas, but between matric and the funding required it’s tough. “I definitely have my eyes set on everything within reach at the moment.”
