Firefighters save Randpark Ridge home from blaze
A quick response from emergency services saved a Randpark Ridge home from destruction, preventing a fire from spreading and causing further damage.
A Randpark Ridge family narrowly avoided losing their home to a fierce blaze on March 1, thanks to the swift response of emergency services.

At 16:40, the Honeydew Emergency Responders group received a call for help, reporting a house fire in Adelaar Crescent. The Community Group Firefighters Association (CGFA) firefighters-NPC were first on the scene and immediately began tackling the flames, using a nearby fire hydrant to contain the fire’s spread.

The fire, however, was already intense, prompting further reinforcements. Fire Ops SA, Fidelity SecureFire, and the City of Johannesburg EMS fire services joined the effort, pooling their expertise and resources to bring the blaze under control.
Thanks to their combined efforts, much of the home was saved. While the kitchen and several rooms sustained significant damage, the firefighters prevented the house from being completely gutted.

Emergency medical services also played a crucial role in the response. ComMed Emergency Response and Impact Emergency Services treated the homeowner, who suffered severe burns to his hands, arms, and upper body. He was transported to a medical facility for further treatment.
Community safety groups also provided essential support. Members of SB Security, EC Security, and the Honeydew Community Policing Forum monitored the scene, ensuring the safety of the firefighting teams and their equipment.

The incident highlighted the importance of a well co-ordinated emergency response, and the dedication of those who put their lives on the line to protect others. Thanks to their swift and decisive actions, a family’s home was spared from complete devastation.
