Delta Park School receive positive signs from Randburg Sun

Delta Park School installed positive signs that aimed at uplifting learners and teachers.

Randburg Sun donated 10 outdoor and 90 indoor signs with positive messages to Delta Park School through Signs of Positivity, an organisation that works with contributors to assist learners on their path to become happy, well-rounded individuals.

These high-quality signs aim to spread optimism in the school’s corridors and classrooms to children and teachers.

Principal Dr Hannetjie Britz explained that a lot of their learners come from very challenging, socioeconomic backgrounds and environments.
”Our kids come from quite negative environments. It’s tough, and parents are struggling. With the signs, there’s almost a visible change in the environment.
“Our kids are visual. The moment they can see what we are saying as teachers, it starts making a difference. It’s a nice link. If you stand next to a sign and you are giving a child a speech, you can use it as a link to a discussion.”

Britz added that the impact was not just on the learners but the teaching staff and other people who access the school on weekends.
“We have a lot of people coming to the school. So, the signs are being exposed or shown to a whole lot of people.”
Delta Park is the 15th school in Gauteng to have the Signs of Positivity installed, bringing the number of children exposed to daily positive messages to more than 11 500.

The founder of the organisation, Reg Pakari explained that with the budget constraints many schools have, the standard set of 100 signs at the majority of schools has been funded by caring businesses and community organisations, however, some schools funded the signs when their budgets allowed.

Families can also leave a lasting legacy by donating signs and receiving donor plaques in their name to display at schools.

“We’ve made it easy for donors to make children feel more valued every day, which is something we believe can only have long-term benefits for all of us in society. The donor acknowledgement plaques we install with the signs are daily reminders to the children that someone beyond their school and home also cares about their well-being.”

He concluded that by donating a set of signs to a school of their choice, a business donor builds positivity into their brand, without much effort or time commitment.
