They saw this as a way to express their appreciation to their health care staff, who are more than just professional workers; they play the role of companions, listeners, advocates, and lifelines for residents. They have proven, beyond doubt, that they bring more than what is expected of them.
Without fail, they provide their patients with warmth, patience, and understanding. In a home where many residents are fragile, navigating through complex health challenges, the caregivers work to support their residents.

Manager of the village Lee-Ann Benny said: “Each day, our nurses show up, with hearts full of kindness and hands ready to help. They are the quite strength behind our village and they prove to us, on a daily basis, that, not only do they care about the physical health of the residents, but they care about their emotional wellbeing as well. Whether it is through assisting with daily tasks, managing medications, or offering a comforting hand, their contributions are immeasurable.”
International Nurses Day serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role that care staff and nurses play in maintaining the dignity of the elderly, as well as saving people’s lives. Summerfield Park Retirement Village thanks their health care staff for their tireless work and unwavering commitment, which embodies every spirit of nursing.
