Laerskool Fontainbleau learner selected for Dubai netball tour

After a good performance in the Kobus Wiesse U13 Netball Festival, Laerskool Fontainbleau learner Tauri-Lee Terblanche received the opportunity of a lifetime, to play in Dubai in December.

Tauri-Lee Terblanche, a learner from Laerskool Fontainbleau, has been selected to be part of the netball tour in Dubai in November and December 2025.

Tauri-Lee was captain of the school’s team, which recently participated in the Kobus Wiesse U13 Netball Festival in Cape Town. The team displayed remarkable performances, ending up 10th out of 35 schools.

This tour will see the team selected travelling to Dubai to compete in matches. The tour has been specifically constructed to expose the participants, not only to the sporting essence of the people and offerings of Dubai, but also the prospective opportunities available to them.

Tauri-Lee explained that the Kobus Wiesse festival was an incredible experience, and an opportunity for the school team to become closer to each other. “There were ups and downs in the tournament. We lost and won games, but we never gave up. It was exciting, as we also managed to do some sight-seeing as a team. I am very impressed with my teammates for ending 10th place, especially because the schools we played against were amazing.”

The talented young netballer was selected for the wing attack position for the tour, as one of the best players in the tournament. “I thought I didn’t make it, then, suddenly, they called my name. I didn’t believe it, but as it settled in, I was full of joy, and my heart started racing. I even started crying.

“This selection means I can finally show everyone my talent. People from all around the world will be able to see me perform, and maybe even offer me a scholarship.”

Tauri-Lee is appealing to the community and businesses for donations and sponsorships to make her dream come true. “This is going to be a once in a lifetime experience, and an incredible opportunity. I have dreamed of being part of something this big for seven years and I now have that opportunity. In order for my dream to come true I need the community love, support, donations, and sponsorships, for me to be able to go to Dubai in December.”
